Primary School, Narahan - Shaping Futures

Books in one hand and a rug in another, walking on narrow muddy lanes in the fields. Twenty years ago from now, this was the scene in Narahan early in the morning for children going to school. Long back from now when most of the villages were lagging so much in education, Narahan was privileged enough to have a primary school. Young kids of Narahan did not have to walk miles for their basic primary education. Kids from neighboring villages also came to the school at Narahan for education.

The school was set up in the 1950s by some of the visionary people in Narahan who thought education can mold the world into a better place to live. The school has its own building comprising of two rooms. It was a primary school running classes from one to five. Class one to class three students used to study in one room and class 4 to class five students in the other. But what mattered was not the space but the education.

From its advent in 1950 till now, Narahan Primary School is standing on the same land, imparting the basic education to one and all who are born in Narahan. I also had this honor of studying in this primary school. With time the school has seen lots of development. It got its new building having nine classes. Classes have been increased from five to seven. Mid day meal is being provided to students who are enrolled here, a Government initiative.

The school from its time in history is not only giving education to the people of Narahan, it is inculcating in them the rich culture and heritage of the land. It is molding their childhood in a way towards achieving something good, something great! This can be realized by the fact that young generation of Narahan can be seen making their way to the top notch IITs, they are seen cracking the toughest exams of civil services and holding the position in Indian Administration; they are doctors, engineers, in India and abroad. But above all they are good human being. And this humanity has been passed in them in their school, The Narahan Primary School.

Folks it is very important that the childhood should be secured in the boundaries of education, be it in city or any village. So if your village is not having a school, take an initiative and have one. Because that’s what makes a difference to the world.

There are dozens of incredible definition of beauty which can be found in this place, My Narahan - My beautiful inspiration.

Being a suburban rural village, agriculture is the main profession of the people. But what surprises the most is that they are not behind in any other field as well. Be it defence, administration, technology, medicine, just name it and you will find the marks of people from Narahan there. Such is the strength of this place.

The soil of "Narahan" inculcates in it the richness of nature. Making it vastly fertile. The extent of fertility lies in the fact that almost every crop can be grown here. Be it Paddy, sugar, sunflower, mustard or peanuts. But the major share is covered by paddy fields. Walking through the paddy fields, you will come to know the hard work and affection of a farmer growing the paddies. He nurtures the crops with his utmost care and devotion. The result of which comes in the form of rice which is known by its beautiful fragrance. The very incense of this rice attracts customers from near and far.
